We specialize in preparing children and adults for EIKEN at all grades and for both stages of the test. By joining any of our regular non-special course classes, students can expect to improve their EIKEN level because our materials are designed to include elements tested in EIKEN.

We will not disclose any confidential information privy to EIKEN examiners, but from our experience we are sure to teach students the kind of English and test taking techniques that they need to master in order to pass EIKEN.

We ask students to allow us to make and display a copy of their certificate if they pass the test. In March 2020 we had over 250 certificates displayed on the walls in our EIKEN CAFE room.

Listening section. 100 multiple-choice questions over 45 minutes.

Part 1 photographs 10 questions.

Part 2 question-response 30 questions.

Part 3 short conversations 30 questions.

Part 4 short talks 30 questions.

Reading section. 100 multiple-choice questions over 75 minutes.

Part 5 incomplete sentences 40 questions.

Part 6 text completion 12 questions.

Part 7 reading comprehension single passage 28 questions, double passage 20 questions.

The test:

Reading, 36-56 questions over 60-80 minutes (read 3 or 4 passages and answer questions).

Listening, 34-41 questions over 60-90 minutes (listen to lectures/dialogues and answer questions).

Break, 10 minutes.

Speaking, 6 tasks over 20 minutes (express opinion, speak based on listening/reading tasks).

Writing, 2 tasks over 50 minutes (write essay based on reading/listening tasks, support an opinion).

We can help prepare students for the IELTS academic version test in our regular classes for high school and university students. An alternative is by special course.

The test:

Listening, 30 minutes

Write answers to questions about four recorded monologues and conversations.

Reading, 60 minutes

Write answers to questions about three long texts.

Writing, 60 minutes

Task 1, write a summary to describe or explain graphs, tables, charts or diagrams.

Task 2, write an essay responding to a problem or an opinion.

Speaking,11-14 minutes

Part 1, 4-5 minutes, answer general questions about self, home, family and interests etc.

Part 2, 1 minute preparation, 2 minute speech about a given topic then answer follow-up questions.

Part 3, 4-5 minutes, answer further questions and discuss more concerning Part 2

We can help prepare students for school speech contests by using our editing and proofreading expertise and interactive technology. The student writes the speech. We check it for accuracy of English and offer suggestions about content in some cases. The student practices delivering the speech and we record by video. Together we play back the video over our interactive projector pausing and discussing aspects for improvement.

Our professional, experienced staff can help you prepare for GCSE Psychology, an examination taken in England in June. The British test code is AQA 4180.

We can help prepare students for the test by distance learning or regular lessons at our school in Itsukaichi. For students that want to sit the test during a sightseeing trip to London, we can help arrange your stay and registration at a test center in London.

The teacher of this course taught ordinary and advanced level psychology at schools and colleges in England and worked as an examiner of a national school and college examination, GCSE child development psychology for 10 years. The teacher was also a tutor of university level psychology for Open University of British Columbia.
